I’ve spent way more time fiddling with my e-bike than actually riding it, and I’ve learned a lot through trial and error.
Who’s been your main mentor or the person who taught you the most
about keeping bikes whether electric or not, running smoothly?

My mentor was my dad, who was a lifelong gas-bike mechanic. even though he still rolls his eyes at the silent motor, he taught me the mechanical sympathy that applies to any bike.

Whether it’s electric or ICE, things like chain tension, pivot greasing, and suspension tuning are all the same. If the chassis isn't dialed, it doesn't matter how big your battery is

YouTube was like my first mentor, followed by a grumpy shop tech who was quick to fix my screw-ups. Between those two, I picked up more about keeping bikes in shape than any manual could ever teach.

For me, it was an old neighbor who rebuilt everything right in his garage.
He taught me the importance of patience, using simple tools, and avoiding the trap of overthinking repairs.
I can still hear him in my head every time I’m tightening something.

A blend of forum gurus, late-night videos, and a fearless friend who’s not afraid to break things.
Watching him tackle his own disasters taught me way more about bikes than any class ever did.
