What's the best finger position on the levers?

How many fingers do you use on your clutch and brake levers when you're riding? One finger or two? I see some people using just one finger but others use two. It seems like a small detail, but it can change your control a lot. And do you ever switch between using one or two fingers depending on the situation?

I primarily use my index for both the clutch and front brake. I find that the biggest benefit when I do this is I keep the rest of my hand wrapped tight around the grip for better bike control, especially in rough terrain. But I'm not strict about it! I absolutely switch to two fingers on the front brake for really steep, fast downhill sections when I need maximum stopping power and modulation. It's good to try both and see which setup lets you maintain the best grip on the bars while still feeling confident in your stopping or clutch control. Make sure your lever reach is perfectly adjusted for whichever you choose!
