The item you don't need

While I was cleaning out my gear bag the other day, I found a multi-tool with about 50 functions that I’ve never used. It got me thinking everyone has that one item they carry just in case.

What’s one thing in your gear bag that you probably don’t need?

That's so funny you say that I've had this little flashlight in my bag for ages. Never used it once but I always tell myself it'll be useful someday.

For me, it's got to be my trusty roll of electrical tape. When I began riding, someone told me it could save my life in a pinch. Honestly I've never even had to use it but it's still there at the bottom of bag just in case, you know?

Okay, so I've had this folding camp saw in my bag for ages. I thought I'd use it to clear trails or something. But honestly it's just heavy and clunky and I've not used it once! Every time I unpackI think about ditching it but it always ends up back in the bag.

I've got extra shoelaces. I brought 'em along after a friend's boots fell apart on a trip once. I thought I'd be ready for anything. That was ages ago, and they're still sitting in the side pocket, never used.
