Keeping your e-dirt bike cool on long rides

I recently got my e-dirt bike and took it out for a long ride on the trails.
I noticed the motor started heating up pretty quickly.

What are some easy tricks, habits, or gear adjustments you use to keep everything cool throughout the ride?

Don’t haul the motor around, choose the right power modes for the terrain. Using high power on flat surfaces creates extra heat. Remember to take breaks on steep climbs to let everything cool down; continuous hard pulls can overheat motors quickly. Moving helps with airflow, but idling doesn’t do much to cool things off.

Make sure your chain isn’t too tight, it can create extra drag and force the motor to work harder, leading to more heat. Also, keep the vents clear of mud and grime; blocked cooling fins trap heat, which can quickly lead to overheating when under load.

Using smooth throttle inputs helps prevent heat buildup, unlike constant stop-and-go acceleration. Keep the ambient temperature in mind, if it’s hot outside, the motor is already facing a thermal challenge. Riding earlier or later in the day during summer can really help with motor temperatures. Unfortunately, physics doesn’t adjust for your riding schedule.

This is some solid advice. Managing power mode and keeping a smooth throttle are definitely important takeaways.
Plus, considering the ambient temp and timing your rides is a great point, sometimes it’s just about dodging that peak heat.
Appreciate you sharing these useful tips.

Absolutely. It’s impressive how just a few simple habits and being aware of the heat can make a big difference in keeping everything running smoothly
