Best battery care practices for Ultra Bee??

Hey guys!! Just picked up my Ultra Bee last week and I'm so stoked about it!!

I have some questions about the best practices for its battery health since I come from gas bikes and I'm new to this world of Li-ion battery care.

So first question.. what's your go-to charging habits?? I mean I've seen the 20-80% rule tossed around, but is that practical for a dirt bike where you often need max range? Should I charge to 100% only when I know I'm doing a long ride the next day?? How often should I also let it sit for a full balance cycle?

I'm also thinking about a dedicated home charging setup but I'm not sure how necessary it is or if it's worth the trouble.. I mean my bike's new so I might be overthinking things. The stock chargers seems fine but is there a way I can have a garage setup for faster charging?? Anyone here can tell me anything about 240V vs the standard 120V? Any recommendations on smart switches or chargers with selectable current to manage heat and battery longevity? I want to avoid a hot, stressed pack if I can.

Sorry for the long list of questions.. I just want to do everything right to keep this pack healthy for as long as possible! Thanks for your advice!!
 
Congrats on the Ultra Bee and welcome to the club! I own a Sur-Ron Light Bee X so I get the Li-ion concerns. The 20-80% rule is definitely the way to go for daily use and maximum lifespan. Only charge to 100% right before a long ride, and never leave it sitting at 100% for long periods!! So the full balance cycle happens when you charge to 100% and leave it plugged in for a few hours after the green light comes on. I'd do this once every 5-10 charges to keep the cells in sync and your range maximized. The stock charger is fine, but you can get an aftermarket unit with selectable current if you want faster charging. The advantage of a 240V setup isn't necessarily more speed with the stock charger, but it is more efficient. If you do get a faster charger, a smart switch is perfect for setting a timer to hit that 80% cutoff. Controlling that heat and charge level is the key to avoiding a hot, stressed pack!
 
Welcome to electric riding. It’s a whole new game compared to gas bikes, but the battery care principles are straightforward once you get used to them.

For the Ultra Bee, the 20-80% rule is definitely the best habit for long term battery health because keeping the charge in the middle range reduces stress on the cells, and you are right to only charge to 100% when you know you need the max range for the next day's ride.
