I’m a long-time city rider on an FXS, so I’m currently rocking the street wheels and supermoto setup. I love this thing for commuting, but a buddy convinced me to try a local light gravel or fire road loop next month.. nothing serious, just packed dirt and some small rocks. Since I still do 90% street, I don't want to go full FX conversion, but I need some practical, no-regrets mods to prevent a bad first experience and keep my bike intact. My biggest worry right now is the belt drive and the street tires on loose stuff. I'm already looking at the chain conversion kit since I hear the belt can be problematic on dirt.
What other relatively simple, practical upgrades should I prioritize?? I’m thinking handguards for branch protection and maybe some better footpegs for standing, but are there any must-have underbody or battery protection parts I need for a very mild trail? I'm also looking for mods that keep my bike street legal if possible, since I don't want to be swapping parts so often.. Thanks for the advice!!
