Affordable entry-level e-dirt bike for teenage son

Hey guys! Happy to discover this forum. I'm looking for some quick, realistic input here.

My son is starting out, total beginner, and I need a reliable, entry-level e-dirt bike. I'm trying to keep the budget tight, ideally closer to the $1200-$1800 mark if possible, but definitely not more than $3000.

We're just doing yard loops and light trails, so it doesn't need to be a full-blown race machine. I'm open to Alibaba direct-import options if someone has a trusted seller or model to recommend.

I've been checking a few options and wanted to ask if anyone here has dealt with the Tuttio Soleil 01 or any from Rawrr Mantis? Are the parts and maintenance a complete nightmare for a rookie like us? Any specific models that have been good starter bikes for younger riders?

We're also trying to avoid the Razor and Hyper models as he's outgrown those. Thanks for any help!

My kid started on a Razor MX650 and it was enough to learn throttle control and basic trail stuff. If your son's taller or rides harder, you might want to look at the Talaria Sting MX3 or even a used Sur-Ron. Is he just getting into riding or already has some experience?

for that budget, look for a lightly used SurRon Light Bee S if you can stretch to the higher end of your $3k cap. They hold their value for a reason.
If you go the import route (Mantis or Soleil), maintenance isn't a nightmare, but you need to be patient

Also when you're checking out e-bikes, pay attention to the battery, how the controller is set up, and if it has a mid-drive motor. I would pass on hub motors and suspension that isn't that strong.
