I'm a new Stark Varg MX 1.2 owner, and I love it! I want to make sure I take care of this thing properly so it lasts for years.
I'm thinking about getting a backup battery to ride longer, but I've heard they can be hard to find and expensive.

What's the deal? Are there any good aftermarket options, or is it best to just stick with a genuine Stark battery?
Also, what's the maintenance like? It seems super easy compared to a gas bike, but is there anything a new owner should know? Any tips on keeping the battery in the best condition?

Stark hasn't rolled out any aftermarket batteries yet, and yeah, the real ones cost a lot and can be tough to find. Most people just ride with one and plan around charging. Keeping the bike clean, checking bolts now and then, and using the app to keep an eye on the battery is pretty much all it takes. Are you keeping it in a garage or somewhere with steady temps? That really helps the battery last longer.

@Finchburg_78 is right about the backup battery. What's currently available is the genuine Stark only and cost around $3,000. Stark's proprietary design and BMS mean there are no reliable aftermarket options, so stick with OEM to keep your warranty valid, but also expect potential availability delays. As for the maintenance, it's light and you mainly need to focus on the chassis. Frequent chain cleaning and adjustment, brake checks, and linkage lubrication. The unique electric task is a simple, scheduled gear oil change for the gearbox. Then for battery life, try to keep the charge between 20-85% normally. Avoid charging right after a heavy, hot ride. For long-term storage, charge to 30-50% and keep it in a temperature-stable location.

Any tips on keeping the battery in the best condition?

you know, the best way to keep that battery healthy is the 20/80 rule. try not to let it sit at 100% for days, and definitely don't store it near 0%
if you aren't riding for a week, keep it at 50-60% charge in a cool spot

maintenance is really simple, but you still have to take care of the chain (lube every 5 hours), brake fluid (flush annually), and gearbox oil. I don't know with other people, but I go over the motor mount bolts every few rides. the torque on these bikes is insane and can vibrate things loose faster than a 450

Genuine Stark batteries are the safest option, but there are a few good aftermarket packs available. Keeping them in good shape is easy, just keep them cool, make sure they’re charged, and keep the contacts clean. Try to avoid letting them run all the way down, and if you’re not riding for a while, store them partially charged.
