Favorite gear that's not even bike-related

You know that one piece of gear you just can’t live without, even if it has nothing to do with biking? It could be a handy tool, a quirky gadget, or just something that makes your life a little easier when you’re out and about.

What’s that favorite item of yours that’s not bike-related? I’d love to hear what it is and why it deserves a spot in your gear collection

I see it as just a tool that does a lot. I started carrying one when I was working in the mines, and I just got used to it. Now, it’s always on my belt. I can use it to fix a latch or open a package. It always helps me out.

It's funny, but I don’t usually carry stuff for my bike. What I always have is a small LED headlamp. Years ago, I started working late shifts in Nevada. You never knew when you would need both of your hands free at night. Now I just keep one in my bag. I’ve used it when camping and when looking for stuff in my garage at night. It's simple, but it's the one thing I won't leave my house without.
