I'm new to edirtbike riding and I've been looking at the GT73 and Flybike RZ, both in my budget range of $1200–$2500. My brother thinks the Sur-Ron would be better long term but I dunno if it's worth stretching my budget for.

Welcome to the club! Both are decent budget-friendly options, but they're generally considered beefed-up e-bikes or entry-level e-motos rather than true e-dirt bikes. I'd agree with your brother that the Sur-Ron, specifically the Light Bee X, would be the better long-term choice! It’s the benchmark for better performance, massive aftermarket support for upgrades, and much higher resale value. If you can find a used one or stretch the budget a bit, it’s absolutely worth it over the others for the long haul. Otherwise, pick the GT73 or RZ with the specs you like best and start saving for a Sur-Ron down the road!

I agree with your bro and rex above. the Sur Ron is the true benchmark.
If you can stretch the budget, don't buy the new cheap bike, buy a used SurRon instead! Check your local marketplaces.
You can often find a used Light Bee X for around $3500−$4000 that will be miles better than a brand new GT73 or RZ, and it won't lose half its value the second you ride it

I’ve been saving up for my first e-dirt bike and was eyeing the GT73, but now I’m rethinking it. If I go used, how many miles is too many for a Light Bee X? Also, do older models still hold up well for trail riding or should I look for newer year builds?

Will start watching local listings instead of rushing into a budget bike. For @sequ3ntia's question, I'm also wondering what mileage range is considered healthy on a used Light Bee X before battery or controller issues start showing up. If I can get clarity on that soon, I'll be ready to decide within the next few weeks and close the thread.
