Alta EX dead, code 37 after wash

I'm totally new to electric bikes after riding gas for years, and I got a used Alta Redshift EX. The bike was running great, but after a trail ride I gave it a careful was, not a direct high-pressure blast, and now it's completely dead. I get absolutely nothing on the dash when I turn the key, no boot-up, zero. I checked the little 9-volt battery in the display and it’s fine, and the main battery pack was showing about 70% before the wash. When I plug the charger in, the bike just blinks an error code 37 on the charger display and won't start charging. I did some searching and it looks like Code 37 might be "High humidity within battery pack," which seems plausible given the wash.

Has anyone experienced this exact issue, and what was the fix? Is this a potential Battery Control Unit failure, or can it be dried out, maybe with some compressed air and a wait? I’m worried about major battery pack issues on a bike that's out of warranty. Any diagnostic advice for a newbie would be much appreciated!

Code 37 means there's moisture in the battery pack. It’s best not to charge it until it’s completely dry. Start by taking off the covers, using compressed air to blow out any moisture, and then let it sit in a warm area for about 48 to 72 hours. If the code still shows up after you’ve dried it out, the battery management system (BMS) will need a professional inspection.

yep, alan right. code 37 is basically the BMS hitting the big red button. don't try to charge it again until this is resolved. The system is designed to lock out charging and running to prevent a short circuit.

Make sure also to check the connector pins and the seals on the harness, this is usually where moisture issues begin. Look for any corrosion on the BCU terminals, and if you can, confirm the activity on the CAN bus. Sometimes, doing a complete power cycle by disconnecting the BCU can help reset any logic faults.
