I've been lurking for a while but decided to finally join because I'm seriously interested in trying my hand at trials. The local scene looks really cool and I'm itching to learn some proper bike control. I'm looking hard at the Electric Motion Epure Sport as my first trials bike. It seems like the best electric option to get started without going full gas. I have a bit of a background doing dirt biking and I'm hoping to hear from those who have made a switch to a trials, what your biggest adjustment was? Is the transition to trials-specific riding as steep as it looks? Any tips on what to practice before I even get the bike to make the learning curve a little less vertical? Specifically, what should I expect when getting on an Epure Sport for the first time? Cheers for any advice!

Welcome! The biggest change you'll need to make is swapping out speed for precision, things like balance, clutch control, and body position are crucial. Before you hop on the bike, take some time to practice your static balance and slow turns. The Epure Sport offers smooth torque and a no-stall clutch, which makes it quite forgiving, but it still requires a delicate touch.

The Epure Sport is an excellent choice. Its regen braking and throttle make it easy to smooth out any early mistakes. Just so you know, there's not much engine braking like in gas bikes, so using the rear brake is key. Also, get comfy standing, you'll be using your core and legs more than you might expect.

Switching from dirt biking to trials riding huh? I can tell you that it's not easy. even on an electric bike, it involves a significant shift in focus from speed and momentum to balance, precision, and ultra slow control
The transition is steep because trials riding is a foundational skill set for all offroad motorcycling, the techniques in trials riding are rarely used in dirt biking

Great point. Trials riding really does change the game. It's remarkable how much concentration and finesse it requires compared to regular dirt biking.
