2-Stage drive for MX torque worth it?

Came across a build using a 2-stage chain reduction (1:3 then 1:5) to boost torque for MX-style riding. Claims better low-speed power with less heat and amp draw. Anyone here tried this setup or something similar? Curious if it’s worth the extra complexity.

That 2-stage reduction sounds like they're shooting for a massive final drive ratio. I think for dedicated MX or technical enduro, that can absolutely be worth it! The payoff is better low-speed power that prevents bogging down. That means lower peak amp draw and less heat or better battery life, which is a major win. I agree that the downside is complexity, but I think it's worth it if your current setup is always thermal-limited or lacks grunt on track. If you just trail ride, it's likely overkill!
