Working on my old Alta Redshift and tried swapping in a 48V controller from a different brand to test some tuning options. Now the bike won’t boot and throws errors. Anyone here successfully mix-and-matched parts on an Alta? or i can't really do that? thanks everyone!

Alta's battery management system and motor controller rely on a unique CAN bus com. If you try to use other brands' controllers, they won't function properly unless you go thru the trouble of custom firmware and reverse engineering the protocol. To keep your system running smoothly, it's best to stick with OEM parts or aftermarket parts specifically designed for Alta.

Changing voltage levels on their own can lead to problems because Alta's system wasn't built for 48V, even if the CAN bus is sorted out, having mismatched voltage can cause faults or even damage parts. It's definitely a risky combination unless there's some serious integration work done.
